The War
160 years before the current day, Mormorium erupted in a violent species war. Bouiboas and Moukiis had never quite gotten along, each finding the other to be inferior to themselves. They existed with tension for time unmemorable, until finally, the two species broke out into an all-out war. Causalities on either side was vast, the war lasting 18 years. Having never had a major war before, the world of Mormorian came to know this span of time simply as "The War". The war finally drew to a close when the King Gurai of the Moukiis and Emperor Kyae of the Bouiboas came together and forged a treaty. The event became known as the Treaty of Mormorium, and is celebrated annually with much jubilation. Although the war is over, some of the negative feelings still remain, to this day, the two species discriminate against one another. There is hope for change however, recently, the two species have come together to advance their world, working to craft new technologies.
Towers
Dotted all across the land is strange structures called Towers. There is eight known Towers in total, scattered across the globe. Seven of which are identical, and the eighth which is larger than all others, with seemingly more significance. They do not match any known architecture, from either Moukii or Bouiboa culture. Several of the towers are quite derelict, one even being submerged below the sea. Nobody is quite sure on how to enter the Towers, or what their purpose even is. The magically adept say they can sense enormous magical power emitting from the Towers.

Moukii CultureMoukii culture is a modest one. They believe in keeping with tradition. They are mostly a simple society, but they share a strong camaraderie with their fellow Moukiis. While they may not value science as much as the Bouiboas, but they are naturally skilled at magic. Moukiis will go out of their way to help one another, even the most unfortunate of their species will be lent a helping hand if they merely ask. Because of this, the typical class system that Bouiboas have fails to impact their lives much, as there is little to no distinction between rich and poor. Moukiis are hardworking individuals, and will stubbornly continue with their work until they succeed. While they may not have much in terms of art and technology, they manage to get by just as well. Their architecture is much simpler than the Bouiboas, being crafted from stone and wood. They build enormous defenses around their settlements to protect all within.

Bouiboa CultureWith their mostly aquatic lifestyle, their culture is a great deal different than the land-dwelling Moukiis. Unsurprisingly, living underwater makes everything much harder, so Bouiboas have more advanced technology and fine arts. They appreciate the finer things in life, so the wealthy live lavish lives. They work hard to advance their society in science and art. However, not all of their kind has it so great, for all the rich and well-off, there is even more poor. The lower class often get tasked with more dangerous jobs, such as collecting natural resources in their underwater environment. Bouiboa arcitecture is grand, sleek and elegant. They value science and technology over magic a great deal.

Technology
Technology in Mormorium is actually quite advanced! Most of their technology and science is similar if not above our own in our current day. There is a few differences however, mostly lying with transportation and energy sources. Magic is far more abundant than other energy sources on Mormorium, so they use it to power a lot of their tech. Excess energy given off with the use of the magic power source is shown as a bright blue light and nothing else, thus, pollution is not an issue for them. In regards to transportation, they typically rely on simpler means for travel such as their common mount species, as well as wooden structures such as small boats and wagons. However, larger scale machinery does exist. Huge war machines were used during The War, and their broken shells can be seen laid about the battlefields of the old days. Larger Boui ships are occasionally used for massive shipments far out to sea. Bouiboa culture utilizes more technology than Moukiis, that's not to say they don't use it as well, simply not as much. While their technology is advanced, they have not yet figured out space travel. In regards to weapons, they do have similar weapons seen in our own world, however, magic is used more commonly as it's easier to access and use. Many weapons such as guns are quite hard to acquire, as they are rare. Certain Bouiboa-run cities are developing advanced AIs, and robots are becoming a more common sight in these cities.
Religion
The entire planet of Mormorium tends to follow one general belief when it comes to religion. While there is a few groups that worship other entities, they are considered cults in the eyes of those who worship the primary 'god', Veroonic (Vaer-own-ic). Veroonic, shortened to Vero in the common tongue, is an enigmatic figurehead of an enormous religious base. Common Veroonic iconography is based off of ancient symbols adoring the outside of towers. Many Moukiis believe the symbols to represent wings, while Bouis commonly believe it to be fins. Many other forms of representation exist of course, and is widely up to the individual. Vero is believed to have created the world and all it's inhabitants, though none are sure if it's really true or not. The belief is that Vero crafted Mormorium from stardust and left them with magic before returning to their home in the stars. Many have come to doubt their existence, while others insist that they play a role in their daily lives, a mystery that everyone is certain will never be solved. Some believe that the Towers have something to do with Veroonic's existence, and eventual return, claiming that when the Towers are 'opened', they shall come down upon the planet and greet them. Moukii culture tends to follow the belief of Vero more closely, while Bouiboas will doubt. There are exceptions of course, as individuals will always believe what they want. Only one this is for certain, and that is the fact the worship of Vero is strong across the globe, with an array of shrines and churches dotting each major city and settlement.
