Rules are not fun, we know, but they are necessary for making the community a safe and enjoyable place for everyone! We have a three strike system, where, if you receive three strikes, you will be punished and removed from the community. The group's rules are a growing organism, so they may be edited and added to as time goes on. Be aware that just because something is not explicitly listed as a rule on here, that it will not cause a problem should it be done. Use common sense and be respectful, and everything will be fine. Should you have any questions about the rules, feel free to send a note to the group or private message a mod!
General
These rules apply to the entire group! From the actual deviantArt group to the Discord server. These all-encompassing rules MUST be followed.
Be respectful to other players and the mods. Treat others how you would wish to be treated!
If you have a problem with another user, discuss things with them in private or note the group or a mod about the issue. Do not make it a public problem.
Do not openly bash the group (or other groups). They are ran by people just like you! Even if you dislike them, be polite at all times.
Listen to the mods! If they give you a warning or ask you to change something, don't argue. We will remember who cooperates and who doesn't.
If you aren't sure about something...ask! Only accept answers from mods, as they are official. Be sure to check the FAQ to see if it was asked before as well!
No multi/shared accounts! Your Mormorians and your items are linked to your account! If you wish to move accounts, please note the group with absolute proof that it belongs to you. It is highly preferred that you simply change your username rather than doing this however.
When submitting anything in the group for approval, do not delete the artwork or comment trying to be approved! This just causes confusion and wastes time.
Do not discuss controversial topics such as real-world problems, including religion, politics, and other hot button issues. While discussing these things may be good, the group is not the place for it. It tends to cause more fights than necessary as well.
Do not force or manipulate someone into interacting with your character. This goes for anything in the group, do not force someone to breed your Mormorian, roleplay, or even just have a plot with. If you are caught doing any of this, you will receive a strike immediately.
Discord
These rules apply to the group's Discord server only. All general group rules should be followed in the Discord as well.
Be sure to post in the correct channels! If you are asked to move channels, do so without making a fuss.
Do not spam the chat!
Be polite at all times. Keep profanity to a minimum and do not attack people.
Try not to skip over peoples posts in that chat! Be sure to say something so that they don't get ignored -- this is simply the polite thing to do.
The vent channel is meant only to talk about personal issues, not about other people or groups. Do not use it to rant!
Do not share NSFW artwork in the Discord server!
Character Creation
Naturally, your character is yours. These are more or less 'tips' than rules, but should be considered anyway when creating your character. Following these will make your character more interesting and unique, and who doesn't want that?
Do not build a character around a single, edgy concept please. Do not make a character revolve entirely around the concept of 'being a cannibal' or 'murderer'. Give them some depth! Everyone has more personality than just their actions!
Give them a backstory! Even if it is considered a 'tragic' backstory or not, giving your character history always makes it easier to flesh them out and develop them.
Do not create 'fan characters'! Being inspired by a design is fine, but outright copying their name and personality is not. Make your character unique and make them your own!
Less is more! While you may be tempted to pop out as many Mormorians as you can a month, try developing them each! Making one interesting, well-rounded character is far more interesting and gratifying than making 30 blank slates that will never be used!
Art
Even art needs it's rules! These are not meant to limit what you draw, but keep them in mind at all times.
Art theft such as tracing or outright reposting someone else's artwork is strictly forbidden. Referencing is fine, theft is not. Stealing artwork once will incur a warning, but not a strike. Any time you are caught stealing art after this, it's a strike.
NSFW MUST be properly tagged! Put [NSFW] in the title of the artwork when posting. NSFW artwork is anything that contains: excessive blood and/or gore, anything sexual, nudity, and dark themes such as self-harm or suicide. If you aren't sure if your art qualifies as NSFW, please send a mod a private message and they will let you know.
All art should be submitted to the appropriate folders!
If you have multiple small drawings, please combine them onto one larger canvas and submit that instead of the many little ones. This helps keep down the clutter in the group folder and makes it easier to count EXP and Gold when needed.
Do not post any non-group related artwork to the deviantArt folders! The piece will be removed, and if you do this repeatedly, you will receive a warning and eventually a strike should it continue.
All gift art should tag the owner of the Mormorian in the description.
If resources are used, proper credit must be given to those that made those resources, such as linearts, memes, etc.
Role-Playing
These rules apply to roleplays between two or more people. They are meant to improve the roleplay as well as protect people's characters and themselves.
Do not god-mod your characters! Making them overpowered and perfect simultaneously makes them no fun to roleplay with too.
Do not use someone else's character without their permission!
Do not do private roleplays in the Discord server, please do it in direct messages.
Be respectful to the person you are roleplaying with. If they take a while to type, just be patient. You are allowed to give them a reminder if they fail to respond in a few days however.
Do not distort their character! Do not write for the other person! They know their character better than you do, so don't write them yourself unless given explicit permission to do so.
Give thoughtful responses rather than a simple statement. It doesn't have to be a novel, but should at least be more than a single sentence.
Strike System
The strike system is rather simple; three strikes, and your out! Strikes are accumulated by repeatedly breaking the rules. The strike system is meant to protect players by punishing the offenders. The severity of the rule broken varies, therefore, each strike goes on a case by case basis. There is several levels of the strike system, each with a equally varying severity in terms of punishment.
Strike One: The first strike is a private warning. You will receive a note on dA as well as a private message from a mod on Discord should you be active there. This note will explain what you have done wrong and how to correct yourself before gaining another strike. Each level one strike differs in severity depending on the rule broken. For example, a warning about posting something in the wrong Discord channel will not be as serious as one for threatening people. The smartest thing you can do to not gain any further strikes is to simply do as the mods say, and change your ways.
Strike Two: The second strike is a public warning on the Discord server and another note on deviantArt. To have gained a second strike, you have failed to heed the warning in the first, and continued to break the rules. This second warning is your last. Anymore rule-breaks from this point will lead to a third strike.
Strike Three: The final strike is a temporary ban from the dA group and the Discord server. You will receive a final note entailing what you have done to deserve the ban, as well as how long the ban will last. Once the time limit has ran out, you may decide whether you wish to come back or not.
Additional Forms of Punishment
Along with the strike system, there is two other punishments for rule-breaks. One is for the least serious of offenses, while the other is for the most severe. Be aware that theses do exist, and that these punishments can be dealt out.
Small Warnings: These are simply warnings for offenses deemed so minor that they do not incur a strike. These warnings are typically given before the first strike is ever gained. By heeding these preemptive warnings, you can easily avoid actual strikes in the future. You can receive multiple small warnings about different things at one time, but be aware that too many at once, or too many of the same will result in a strike inevitably.
Permanent Ban: To have earned a permanent ban, you must have done something really serious. If you receive this punishment, your account will be permanently banned from both the deviantArt group, as well as the Discord server. You may note the group mods and consult them if you wish to return, just be aware that it is unlikely you will be allowed to should you have earned this punishment.
Summary
Rules are here to protect everyone, not to limit or punish individuals. Breaking the rules will lead to consequences, just like the real world. There is different levels of offenses, each with varying levels of punishment. The strike system is used to keep track of repeat offenders and deal with them accordingly.
